Rubicon Locker Override Kit

The JK Rubicon is an extremely capable vehicle but as with anything it can be improved.  Jeep engineers set the locking differentials up so that the lockers can only be engaged in 4 low and only in a certain sequence. We prefer to be able to use them when we want and to suit our situation. This is why we built this kit.

*this kit is used on 2011-2018 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon models

Where it's used

The 2011-2018 Jeep Wrangler Rubicons have switches for engaging the factory installed lockers in a switch panel to the left of the steering wheel. There is also a panel marked "OFFROAD" in case you didn't know where you're Jeep was capable of going. We found this to be a great place to use for our kit.

This video details an installation of the Searchers 4wd Jeep JK Rubicon locker override kit. This is how we install this kit in our shop. Obviously, there are other ways to do this and feel free to make it your's and do it another way.

What's included

We have tried to include everything needed for a DIY install down to every electrical connector. The Switch panel is CAD designed and 3d printed for accuracy and the switches and LED backlight are high quality parts.  These are the parts for a typical install that we recommend. If you find a better way then feel free to add, use or remove parts.

Finished project

A typical install is shown below. The placement of the LED backlight can be adjusted to get the desired output. This kits allows the use of the lockers in 2wd, 4wd, high or low range, you get to pick.

WARNING, this is a modification and can change the driving characteristics of the Jeep it's installed on. Understand how this works and use it appropriately. To use the lockers in 2wd you may have to turn off the traction control.
