Teraflex 2.5" Coil Spring Lift
This has been one of the most popular lift kits that we have carried for a couple of reasons.
First, it is a relatively inexpensive kit that gives you enough clearance to fit a 35" tire on a 2007-2014 Wrangler. Second, it has better than stock ride quality. Third, it holds up to the weight of aftermarket front and rear bumpers.
Enough Clearance for 35" Tire
There is a lot more than meets the eye when it comes to a mild lift. There are a lot of kits on the market for adding a little lift to clear 35's on an 07-14 Wrangler or Wrangler Unlimited but not all kits are made to PROPERLY clear a 35. One of the most important factors to address is bump stop length. Bump stops are what keep your tires from hitting your fenders when you are flexing out your suspension. The Teraflex 2.5" coil spring lift comes with bump stop extensions to allow you to run the larger tire without damaging your Jeeps flares. Additionally, the bump stops are set to allow the most possible up travel with a 35" tire, so they are not so long that they limit the travel of your suspension unnecessarily.
Better Than Stock Ride Quality
There are a couple of factors that make up ride quality but most of it comes down to simply driving it down the street, over some train tracks and on our test track. The ride quality of the Teraflex 2.5" coil spring kit rides better than stock on all terrains. Another major part of any lift kit comes down to dealing with body roll. The Teraflex 2.5" Coil Spring Kit includes sway bar end links for the rear and moves the factory rear end links to the front sway bar. This reduces body roll as it helps to maintain the factory sway bar geometry.
Holding Up Aftermarket Bumpers
We often have customers ask about the difference between the coil spring lift and the budget boost. The factory suspension on a Jeep Wrangler JK or JK Unlimited doesn't ride that great and it doesn't hold up the extra weight of a bumper/tire carrer or winch. A budget boost re-uses the factory springs and simply adds a spacer to the top of it, which means when you start adding weight your springs will start to sag. The Teraflex 2.5" coil spring lift lifts the front of the jeep just over 3" and the rear just over 2". This eliminates the factory rake and gives the jeep a more level stance from front to back. The new springs also hold the weight of aftermarket accessories like a winch and bumper as you can see from the pictures below.
Shock Selection - There are a couple of shock set ups that we typically run with these jeeps. In order to get the best ride quality out of this kit it is important to pair it with the right shock. For two and four door jeeps the Teraflex 9550 shocks ride nice and soft on and off road and give your jeep a more plush ride. Teraflex fox shocks tend to ride a little more stiff at slower speeds on a two door but open up at higher speeds for normal daily driving. On a four door the Teraflex Fox Shocks ride nice and smooth over all terrains. On both two and four door jeeps the Teraflex Fox Shocks add more stability and control off road.
Sway bar disconnects - If you don't have a Rubicon you can add sway bar quick disconnects to the front to open up the jeeps suspension travel off road. They will allow the tires to droop more and stay in contact with the ground. In most situations this will give you greater traction to help you clear more rugged terrain.
Wheel Spacers - this kit requires the use of wheel spacers or aftermarket wheels with deeper backspacing to clear the rear sway bar end links.
